Rokit Performing Arts

Rokit Performing Arts, the funkiest performing arts school in Cheshire opens its doors to aspiring performers on Tuesday 10th January 2012 in Knutsford.

Knutsford based Actress, Dancer and Choreographer Victoria Thomas, Principal of Rokit Performing Arts, decided to launch Rokit in Knutsford as there was a definite gap for a professional performing arts school that is run and taught by professionals. All of Rokit Performing Arts teachers have worked extensively in the industry as performers and teachers.  Our teachers have been handpicked for their professionalism, dedication to the arts and most importantly they experience in both performing and teaching.

Victoria has featured in TV shows, music videos and fashion shows including, Doctors, Life on Mars and, most recently, appearing in Emmerdale.

Currently she can be seen appearing in TV commercials for SCS, Moben Kitchens and Iceland with Stacey Solomon. During her dancing years she has performed and toured the world with artistes such as Kanye West, Ministry of Sound and has danced at The Brit Awards and in numerous music videos.

She also produces fashion shows all over the UK and Europe. Recently, she has produced shows for, Umbro, Nike and high end retail fashion stores.

“My aim is to provide professional training in the core principles of acting, dancing singing and presenting.”

She stresses it won’t be just for aspiring performers.

“It’s also for children who just want to have fun, make friends and be a part of something special.”

“It will have an American high school, glee theme,” she maintains.

Accordingly, age groups will be split into:

  • freshman’s (age 4-6)
  • sophomores (age 7-11)
  • and senior’s (age 12-18).

Our rates are some of the most competitive allowing the performing arts to accessible to everyone.

Our exclusive syllabus

The syllabus is designed to build confidence, enhance fitness and encourage children to work as team.

“Each week we will alternate between our exclusive ‘Rokit Pop’ and ‘Rokit Theatre’. Rokit POP classes will be inspired by popular music, TV and music videos. Pop songs will be learned and dance will be inspired by music videos and acting a piece from a popular children’s TV show or soap including camera technique and audition techniques.”

‘Rokit Theatre’ week will be inspired by hit musicals and plays and classes will include a theatre song, dance moves seen on stage in top west end shows and an acting scene also from a well known musical or play.”

“We are not a franchise and the only school with our exclusive Rokit POP and Rokit Theatre training.”

Welcome to a new social group in Cheshire.

Do you want to re-vitalise your social life and have a handy mix of people to play with?

What are you doing this weekend?

Anything interesting or fun planned?

At Go SOUP eighteen of our members will be enjoying socialising at a local wine bar, six others are trying out some off-terrain mountain-biking, fully geared and trained up with specialists. Others are meeting up to walk their dogs or go for a jog and twelve of our members are heading off to a theme park.

Go SOUP was founded by Julie Hadall and a group of friends that have all found themselves in a situation where their immediate social circle was a bit scattered and not all in one place, making organising “going out” a bit limited.

They have formed Go SOUP for like-minded people trying to SOUP up their social life and enjoy an exciting mix of entertaining, challenging, sociable or fun things to do in their spare time

For further information visit their website at http://www.go-soup.co.uk or contact a member of the Go SOUP team on 08450348067.

Be a good winter neighbour this season

As part of the Cheshire East Adult Safeguarding Board’s ‘Stay Warm, Stay Well, Stay Safe’ campaign, the Council would like people to check in on their friends and neighbours, especially if they are older, or have a disability or chronic illness as they may need your help and our support.

As part of this campaign, the Council has listed some winter warning signs for residents, who should always be on the lookout for signs that something might be wrong:

  • Milk still out on the doorstep late in the day
  • Newspapers and post stuck in the letterbox
  • Curtains drawn during the day
  • Lights on during the day
  • A home in darkness when there should be someone at home
  • A dog barking all day or the cat scratching to be let in
  • Bins not put out on collection days

Councillor Roland Domleo, Cabinet member with responsibility for adult services and health and wellbeing, said: “Cheshire East Council and its partners are always here to help and the winter page on our website and information sheets provide a wealth of advice and contact details.

“These could be for those who are worried about an adult and are looking for social care support or who are looking for services to support families or children.”

  • For concerns about the welfare or safety of an adult, call 0300 123 5010 (8.30am-5pm) or 0300 123 5022 outside these hours;
  • The Family Information Service is available on 0300 123 5033;

Pay for parking using your mobile?

Motorists across Cheshire East can now take advantage of paying for parking via their mobile phone.

Using a credit or debit card, you can now pay for parking, using a mobile phone, in 18 car parks, by telephoning 020 3046 0010. The service is supplied by RingGo.

The new payment option will be trialled, across Cheshire East from October 31st.

Cheshire East Councillor Rod Menlove, Cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: “We understand that motorists do not always have loose change available to pay for car parks. We wanted to give people the option of paying by phone. There is no need to carry any cash or use the ticket machine, you just need a mobile phone.

“You don’t even need to put a ticket in your window, as our enforcement officers will be able to check that fees have been paid, using RingGo, via their handheld units. First-time users can register with RingGo by telephoning the service or by logging on to www.myringgo.co.uk/register.

“Should your meeting or shopping trip overrun, you can even give RingGo a quick call and extend your length of stay, without returning to your car.

“I hope motorists find that this trial has a positive impact on how they use local car parks.”

Parking fees can now be paid, by phone, at the following car parks:

  • Alderley Edge: South Street and West Street
  • Knutsford: King Street; Old Market Place; Princess Street; Silk Mill Street; and Tatton Street

Council Gets Tough on Dog Fouling

19th October 2011

Cheshire East Council says it will ‘not be complacent’ when it comes to tackling the problem of dog fouling. The authority is reminding irresponsible dog owners that anyone failing to pick up their dog’s mess will receive a £50 fine.

Cheshire East Councillor Rachel Bailey, Cabinet member with responsibility for safer and stronger communities, said:  “Dog fouling is unacceptable and we will continue to educate dog owners to take responsibility for their pets.

“No one likes to see dog waste in the street or in their local park. Not only is it unattractive but it also poses a severe health risk, particularly to young children.

“We will not hesitate to issue fixed penalty notices of £50 as part of tough action against  irresponsible owners.

“I would like to reassure all dog owners and the wider community that we will not become complacent. We will persevere with our efforts to rid our parks and open spaces of dog mess and protect the public’s health.

“Community warden officers have carried out 22 campaigns in problem areas since April this year already, following reports from local people. Those caught could face a fine of up to £1,000 if they fail to pay.

“There is no excuse for the minority of dog owners who consistently fail to clear up their pet’s mess. We will not allow dog fouling to spoil people’s enjoyment of their local environment.”

Children’s Day

The Wilmslow Green Room Society

presents

Children’s Day

by

Keith Waterhouse & Willis Hall

Directed by Mark Jephcott
assisted by Linda Batson

3rd – 10th December 2011

A comedy set in the 1970s.

This play concerns a children’s party and takes place in the Kitchen of Emma’s house in Hampstead. The Party which is heard but not seen, provides a backdrop for a serious set of adult crises and the effect those jollifications have on the lives of two couples; Robin and Emma, and Peter and Polly. Robin has left Emma and Emma is friendly with her solicitor Tom. When both Tom and Robin turn up for the party the mishaps of the party spill over into the kitchen. Can everyone reconcile their differences in an adult fashion?

Visit the Green Room Societies website at http://www.wgrsoc.org.uk for further information.
